Colour : Bright green gold, silver reflections.
Nose : Very tempting, a beautiful aromatic elegance with slightly buttery-toasted notes, and candied citrus fruits.
Palate : Generous, flavourful, crispy, a beautiful round salinity on the finish. A certain smoothness is noticeable.
Since 1868, Domaine Jacques Prieur has created one of the rarest mosaics of terroirs in Burgundy. Today it is probably the only estate owning vineyards on the greatest appellations both of Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits: Chambertin, Musigny, Clos Vougeot, Echézeaux, Corton, Meursault or Montrachet. This amazing collection is completed by other prestigious appellations and 3 Clos Monopoles.
A large plot with the evocative name of "Les Champs au pied du Mont" (or, "The Fields at the Foot of the Mountain"), located on the slope overlooking the outskirts of Beaune. This vineyard, facing due east, produces both red and white wine. Chardonnay is planted on the upper part of the slope with chalky soil taht gives its mineral characteristics and unique personality. There is also often a salty flavour on the aftertaste.
Whole bunches of grapes were handpicked into small crates and pressed in a pneumatic winepress. Alcoholic fermentation and ageing entirely in oak barrels. 100% malolactic fermentation. Duration of barrel ageing : 19 months.
