Tasting Notes

This is also ultra-floral in character with its highly complex and airy nose that includes notes of spicy red currant and pomegranate. There is terrific richness to the more mineral-driven and caressing middle weight flavors that deliver outstanding balance, depth and persistence on the chiseled and explosive finale. In contrast to the Noirots this is very Chambolle in basic character and should age beautifully well.

Jacques Prieur

Since 1868, Domaine Jacques Prieur has created one of the rarest mosaics of terroirs in Burgundy. Today it is probably the only estate owning vineyards on the greatest appellations both of Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits: Chambertin, Musigny, Clos Vougeot, Echézeaux, Corton, Meursault or Montrachet. This amazing collection is completed by other prestigious appellations and 3 Clos Monopoles.

The "La Combe d'Orveau" parcel is situated just above the Musigny Grand Cru. This parcel most probably owes its name to its position in the upper parts of the valley and its south facing exposure: Orveau or le val d'or. It is one of the rare parts of Bourgogne where a Grand Cru, a 1er Cru and a village appellation sit side by side: "En Orveau". ExpositionSouth, South-East. SoilPebbly, limestone rich soils.
