Tasting Notes

Amber in color, on the nose it offers complex aroma of Annurca apple, apricot, French honeysuckle honey and liquorice. On the palate it fascinates with its softness and long persistance, enriched by notes of almond and liquorice. Excellent at the end of the meal, with an espresso or a Tuscan cigar.

Il Poggione

Il Poggione was one of the first wineries to market the Brunello di Montalcino wine as early as the 1900's, and one of the founding members of the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium. After more than a Century, Lavinio Franceschi's work is still a fundamental point of reference for his successors, Leopoldo and Livia, who continue to develop the business with that same dedication and unrelenting passion, combining the ancient skills of winemaking crafts and tradition with the latest , most innovative techniques.

Vinification

Grappa di Brunello Riserva Vigna Paganelli is the result of artisanal batch distillation of fresh pomace from Sangiovese grapes sourced in the Paganelli vineyard. In a slow and methodical distillation process using copper stills, our Master Distiller manually separates the "head" and "tail" from the "heart" that will eventually become our Grappa Riserva - but only after aging for 4 years in 350 liters (93 Gallon ) French oak barrel, previously used for the aging of Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino.
