Tasting Notes

Colour is brilliant and limpid straw yellow. Complex aromas of vanilla, almonds, dried fruits and linden-tree. The minerality is marked (typical of the soil). Very round and rich wine. An elegant balance, with a light bitterness at the end. Very ripe white fruit aromas (peach and apricot). Beautiful length in mouth and a huge complexity.

M Chapoutier

The story began with Michel Chapoutier, a unique man with a thirst for knowledge, definitely one of a kind. Michel is openminded and always willing to learn. He seeks to discover and reflect the full potential of his terroirs and let the soils express their true character. That which gives the wines their signature style. This now forms the basis of the M. CHAPOUTIER ethos and our team strives to reveal the very best of what the soils have to offer.

Vineyard & Viticulture

Situated at the top of the Hermitage hill, around the chapel, in a place named the “Ermite”, soils are very poor and granitic. Hand harvesting at maturity. After a light cold-settling, fermentation is entirely made in casks between 18 and 20°C. After a long period of fermentation, the wine is matured on lees, with regular stirrings, between 10 and 12 months.
