Tasting Notes

Taita is a concentrated and complex wine, the production of which is extremely limited. It is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, which Aurelio Montes adds other varieties to according to their qualities. Harmonious in structure, with an attractive, long and complex finish, Taita has the potential for long aging, and can be laid down and cellared for more than 15 years.

Taita is highly perfumed, with ample aromas of ripe red and black berries, jam, and sweet spices. The aromas the oak barrels are very well integrated and lend notes of toffee and nutmeg with a well-balanced touch of toast. Notes of yogurt reinforce the sweet spices.
The palate is very well structured, with firm, nicely incorporated tannins that lend long-lingering breadth and support on palate.

Montes

The Montes Winery is right in the heart of Apalta, a beautiful area of the Colchagua Valley. This large, modern winery is impressive with its inventive design, feng shui approach and Gregorian chants played to mature barrels.

The first activities at vineyard began in 1987. Two partners with great dreams, Aurelio Montes, head winemaker and Douglas Murray, both with long-standing experience in the wine industry. The first premium wine that brought fame to the winery, was the Montes Alpha Cabernet Sauvignon which is still produced today. Several of the Montes wines continue to score 90+ points through the Wine Advocate and Wine Enthusiast.
